Event managers. Players see sixty-four squares; we build everything around them so the only thing left to think about is the next move.
PR. One good move changes the whole board, and we make the moves that bring new schools and partners to the table.
Media. A game ends with a handshake, but the moment we capture keeps every brilliant move alive.

Questions and answers
01What is ICLeague?
The InterSchool Chess League, ICLeague for short, is a chess league between schools in Uzbekistan. It began in February 2025 as a small competition at the academic lyceum of Westminster International University in Tashkent.
The first rounds were online on Lichess, and since May 2025 tournaments are played over the board. From November the league went out to the regions and has now played in 11 of them. The goal: all 14 regions, then schools across Central Asia.
02How is a team made up?
A team is three players representing one school. They sit on boards 1, 2 and 3, usually the strongest on board 1.
Team plays team: board 1 against board 1, 2 against 2, 3 against 3. Every game counts for the school. One school can enter up to three teams.
03What are the time control and scoring?
They are set in each tournament's announcement. The first online tournament was blitz 5+0 in a one-hour arena. The Tashkent tournament in October 2025 was blitz 3+2, Swiss system over 9 rounds. In Karakalpakstan blitz and rapid were played together.
Tournaments are run by experienced arbiters.
04Who can take part, and what is required?
School students. Since October 2025 no rating is required, a year of playing experience is enough.
For the regional tours, teams were asked to follow the ICLeague Telegram channel. The exact terms, date and venue are in each announcement; places are limited and go first come, first served.
05What do players receive?
Every team or player receives an official UzChess certificate. The podium receives medals and diplomas.
Bigger tournaments have also had trophies and cash prizes: 300,000, 200,000 and 100,000 sum in Tashkent in October 2025. On the regional tours, the winning team earns a place at the national stage.
06How do we register?
With the application on this page, or the link in the tournament announcement on the Telegram channel. Registration usually closes the day before.
Following the channel alone does not register a team. After you apply, the league gets back to you by phone or on Telegram.
07How can we bring a tournament to our region?
The league reaches new regions through ambassadors. Its November 2025 call drew almost 200 applications, and in March 2026 it looked for expansion managers.
An ambassador represents ICLeague in their region, runs tournaments with UzChess and receives recommendation letters and certificates from UzChess and ICLeague. New calls are posted on the channel.
08Can I join as a volunteer or in the media team?
Yes. Volunteers, ambassadors and a media team are recruited every season. Media roles have included video editor, graphic designer, brand face, SMM manager and mobilographer.
Volunteers receive an official certificate and a recommendation letter, and meet players, coaches and organisers. Open calls go out on the Telegram channel.
Team application
This is a full application: the school, the captain, three players, a responsible teacher, experience and two short essays. The league reads every one.
